This law makes it a crime to drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs. 

California law defines “drugs” as any substance other than alcohol that could affect the nervous system, brain or muscles. You are driving under the influence of drugs when those drugs impair to the point that you can no longer drive as a sober person under similar circumstances.
