Definition
Penal Code 12.022.53 PC adds a serious enhancement to a felony:
- 10 years in prison for “use of” a firearm
- 20 years for shooting a firearm, or
- 25 years to life for killing or severely injuring another person with a firearm.
As with other “punishable by death or life imprisonment” crimes, the crimes subject to the “10‑20‑life” enhancement include:
- Murder
- Kidnapping
- Robbery
- Carjacking
- And Rape
