Legal Definition

The offense known as criminal trespassing. Simply stated, it is the crime of trespassing when you enter another person’s property without their permission.

Penalties

In most cases, guilt for the crime of trespassing is a misdemeanor, which means it may lead to penalties of up to six (6) months in county jail and/or a fine of up to one thousand dollars ($1,000).

If you commit what is known as “aggravated trespassing,” in which you threaten to physically harm someone and then enter their home or workplace without permission, you may face trespassing or felony charges. This could mean a jail sentence of sixteen (16) months, or two (2) or three (3) years.
